Anti-Sino nationalism and Anti- Russian hysteria of The West Exposes Deep Decay
The West is in a crossroad. The pandemic rips across Europe and the United States, economies are shrinking and the fragility of social relations are being exposed in frequent social explosions.
There has been a marked increase of anti-Sino sentiment and nationalism in many western countries as the “Peoples” republic of China rises as a superpower. The opinion of China in the West has been decreasing since the start of the pandemic as more political parties take on an anti-Sino stance to deflect blame for their systemic failure. There has also been a steady increase in the United States of Anti-Russian hysteria from the part of liberal elites to deflect blame of their own failings and social explosions from internal contradictions to out an outside boogey man. The rise of these tendencies exposes the collapsing nature of western political institutions and the need to find external justification as to avoid any promotion of self-reflection and meaningful change in the status quo.
The republican party and their Qanon cultist are more reasonable for their anti-Sino propaganda than the Democratic party and liberal elites anti-Russian, cold war type hysteria. China is rising superpower, stable and can take hold of the pandemic much more readily than the United States. China is completely independent from the American sphere of influence but hold large amounts of American capital and former American manufacturing. It can be argued that China’s success is largely the result of the short sightedness, greed and “freedom” of the American elites. They chose to move manufacturing jobs to the “Peoples” Republic of China and to play by the rules of the Chinese communist party because they can guaranty larger profits. Compare this to the Democratic party, which blames the rise of fascism, social explosions, security failures and failing in elections on a declining petrol state that can barely project power outside of its own boarders. The anti-Russian hysteria of liberals is more widely accepted but arguably more devoid of facts and unhinged. Trump rose to power not due to Russian interference, but due to is pseudo-populism and the vulnerability of gullible white working class to dogmatic conmen and the hyper reactionary nature of the white middle class. The security breach at the capital was due to the fascistic nature/sympathy of the security state and the fiefdom type way it’s organized. Social explosions happen because large segments of the population have been completely alienated and left in a decrepit condition. None of the problems of this country result from a foreign boogie man. They all come from the inherent weakness of the American political system and the rapaciousness of American economic and political elites.
Unlike anti-Russian hysteria, which is largely an American liberal phenomenon, Anti-Sino nationalism, and reactionary nationalism in general, has been used in Western states to shift attention from there own failings. As China rises in technological, financial and industrial advancement and develops its global soft power, Europe becomes more and more insignificant. The European union is dealing with many of the same problems that the united states is dealing with a deepening wealth inequality, increasing polarization and anti-free trade/liberalization sentiment and the suppression of wages. Instead of introspection, European countries blame Chinese censorship and style of Capitalism on their failure to get a grip on the pandemic and the increasing obscurity of the EU.
These reactionary tendencies could and will backfire in one way or another. It could go the way of the Weimar republic, a blind liberal class, that fans the fire that would soon engulf them. It could go the way of Yugoslavia, where ethnic-cultural division was flamed by right populist to the point of civil war and genocide, all while cultural/political elites were completely oblivious to the deteriorating situation. Power is shifting and the world is becoming more unstable, it’s time that the West stops blaming others for their failings and think about strong solutions to its social problems or risk going the way of the Eastern Block.
