The War on Black Shreveport is here while Democrats Gaslight US
Gary Brooks and Steven Jackson made themselves out as either liars or idiots at the September 8th, 2025 Stoner Hill Community meeting. They said no national guard will be here. They are dead wrong!
On September 8, 2025, the Stoner Hill community met at Valencia to discuss several important community issues. The meeting was quite contentious, but much of it had nothing to do with the National Guard. It was about other issues, such as increases in Electricity fees, the facade that is the “Block by Block” initiative, the shut down of the local swimming pool, and the lack of communication between community members and representatives. Toward the end of the meeting, Ms. Jackson, the chairwoman of the Stoner-Hill Neighborhood Association, mentioned a phone call received by a concerned citizen about the deployment of the National Guard coming to Shreveport. Instead of allowing the concerned citizen to speak and state their proposition, she called up Louisiana State House representative Troy Jackson and district B city councilman Gary Brooks to attempt to reassure the members of the Stoner Hill Community that the National Guard will not be deployed to Shreveport Streets. The district B (covering Stoner Hill, Highlands, and Caddo Heights) councilman stated that the mayor, Tom Arceneaux (R), had no intention of asking about sending in the National guard. He also stated that the Governor did not ask for them, and they would need a particular mission. When state house representative Troy Jackson gave his statement on it, he stated he was not informed about the national guard at all. Both comments are gravely concerning, given the large amount of media attention to the deployment of National Guard soldiers at the beginning of the month of September.
Statements by both representatives either represent an astounding amount of ignorance about national news or represent a brazen attempt at gaslighting the public about an attack on their civil liberties. As was reported by the Akata Tribune, many major news outlets have reported on leaked documents by the Pentagon showing that plans were being drafted to send the national guard to Louisiana cities. The plan was 1000 troops to Shreveport, New Orleans, and Baton Rouge. The occupation (at the time) did not have a definitive start date, but did have a definitive end date (September 30th, 20206). These plans only require the fascist governor of Louisiana, Jeff Laundry’s approval, approval that he signaled he would give at the beginning of the month on his X account and to the news media. It is no coincidence that he sent his letter to the white nationalist defense minister Pete Hegseth on September 29th, making the deployment at least 1 year long. The sheer volume of evidence of this deployment should damn these two men (both Democrats) as either complete idiots (most likely) or deceitful agents of hostile white nationalist Republican power.
We should also not be confused about what is happening. This deployment of the National Guard to Louisiana’s cities has nothing to do with crime. Crime rates in Louisiana’s cities have gone down in recent years. All of this talk of crime by the worst of the right is complete racial propaganda and dog whistling. Shreveport, in particular, has seen a decrease in crime overall. Even our coonish police chief Wayne Smith can attest to this:” Crime overall in our community has been on a constant decline. As we look at the graph, we see that as we build more support for technology, we build more support for partnership, we see our crime rate decline just as much”. The deployment of the National Guard to Shreveport, New Orleans, and Baton Rouge is not to combat crime, but to combat the political enemies of the Republican Party and their constituency. In the south, it is the black population and a progressive minority of the white population who are the targets of this campaign.
The deployment of the National Guard is also a move by the Trump administration and far-right republicans generally to consolidate power. The goal is to make the use of the military in “law enforcement” more acceptable politically, something that would be seen as an anathema and reserved for only the most ardent emergencies just a few years ago. As we stated in the piece on the deployments almost a month ago, black America is being used as a testing ground for a wider assault on the Republican Party’s political opponents. As we have seen in Memphis, Washington, D.C, and even here in Shreveport, the Democratic Party is worthless in this assault on its most loyal constituency. They are worse than worthless, as many Democrats, both black and white, can be expected to collaborate with the military occupation in the name of some twisted idea of “security” and “bipartisanship” instead of fighting back for black self-determination, un-militarized streets, and civil liberties.
What will the National Guard do when in Shreveport or any other majority black city? The national guard will do what the police have been formed to do: act as an occupying force for the Subjugated black nation. We must wait for more clarification on the specifics of the National Guard, but it is obvious that the white nationalist government in Baton Rouge will have a lot more control over local “policing” than it does now. Will a state-federal occupation task force be created in Louisiana’s three largest cities? Will the one thousand troops for the state turn into one thousand troops for each city? Will this year-long occupation turn into another endless war, this time internally? Finally, how will black Shreveport respond? Will we be cowards and take occupation, or will we actually value our freedom and demand self-determination? These questions will take time to answer, but it is important that we answer them.
What Should Be Done.
Join or create an organization that promotes your community’s interest during these dark times.
It can be as small as 3 people but organization is necessary.
Pressure the elected representatives to force Laundry to rescind his order for the deployment of the national guard to Louisiana’s cities.
Call the mayor, the city councilmen, state and federal representatives, etc.
Organize community defense organizations and national guard watches throughout your neighborhood.
Things will get messy, it is important that people
Take note on who supported this measure and be sure they take account of their actions in the future.
There needs to be consequences to traitors who support military occupation against their own people. Those consequences should be either electoral or more direct.
